Issues with the Google Toolbar

I sent an email to Google in regards to this annoying "feature" of the Google Toolbar (for Firefox, not certain if it appears in IE).  Occasionally, when I enter a search query into the Toolbar, it automatically opens up the first result listed  in the SERP's.  While this may be fine for some, I usually want to actually SEE the results.  In a particular case this morning, I was "googling" "Bertuccis in Needham, MA", which wonderfully lists a PDF of their restaurant locations as the first result. 

First of all, why can't Bertucci's put a regular web page up for their restaurant listings?  The answer is - they do have a standard location search.  So the second question is - why does Google show a PDF as the first result?  Or maybe the appropriate question is "Why does Bertucci's have a PDF of their restaurants anyway?".  In any case, when I queried my search, the toolbar opened the PDF immediately, which of course crashed my browser and inspired me to create this post.

Use Google For Something Other Than SEO? Huh?

So the other night, my friend and I were talking about the "proper etiquette" for a certain situation.  The situation being the appropriate tip amounts for wedding-related services.  I mentioned that I had been asking a few people about this and everyone I talked to had no idea.

My friend looks at me, rather incredulously, and says "Google It!".  My God, I never even thought about.  So I googled "wedding etiquette for tipping" and what is the first result?  "Wedding Tipping" by OurMarriage.com.  In 0.15 seconds I had all the information I needed and was sure footed in this type of etiquette. 

Man, Google is awesome!

So here we go - the initial postings by KoMarketing Associates.  We've spent some time, talking about blogging, making recommendations, and writing our own individual blogs.  Now we come to the true test.  Establishing a KoMarketing Web Log represents our opportunity to talk about issues we face in the world of SEO, technology discussions, the Internet, random speculation and uncovering new opportunities, and a ton of other material that we hope the online blogging community finds use for.  Keep in mind that from time to time, we'll be tweaking the design, adding and removing features, and bringing more life and color to this platform.  Here's to a great 2006!
